Postnatal Care
Peurperal period starts just after the delivery of placenta and extends to six weeks. This is the time when the mind and body of the new mother is in the attempt to revert back to the pre pregnancy period. The hormonal build up which lasted for about nine months endure a sudden drop during labor and this affects both the body and mind of the mother. This is a crucial period for both the mother and the baby as breastfeeding and bond building takes place during this period. In this period of time maximum support is needed for both the mother and baby. Ayurveda works on these grounds. It prescribes various diet and regimen for relieving the mother and baby from the strenuous efforts in the process of labor. It also intends on improving the general physical and mental health of the mother, hastening the breast milk production and ejection and also the involution to pre pregnant state.
